Workplace partnership, community leadership
Walter Doherty, the founder of Package Pavement, set the tone for our business over 70 years ago. He was a natural teacher who modeled a love of learning, boundless curiosity, a tireless work ethic. It’s not surprising that the values he lived by have inspired loyalty that’s still going strong in the third generation.
People matter here. We work hard while making time to play, laugh, volunteer and celebrate milestones together. Our staff at Package Pavement tend to stick around thanks, in part, to the culture of workplace partnership that sets us apart from others within our industry. On average, our employees have been with us 12 years; many have been here for 14 or more, and it’s not unusual to be celebrating somebody’s 25th anniversary with a dinner out on the town or a barbeque lunch. Our goal is that all who join us at Package Pavement feel valued, are supported, and know that their hard work will be rewarded.
Community matters here. Second generation Doherty’s Frank, Paul and Eileen are firm believers in giving back. Our sister company, Red Wing Sand and Gravel, has created five Dutchess County parks, along with walking trails in LaGrangeville and Milan.
We’re longtime participants in Community Day celebrations, giving away thousands of the evergreen seedlings to keep the environment thriving; we take great joy in families coming back for a fresh seedling for the next generation and letting us know how the one we gave them 20 years ago has grown.
We proudly partner with over 30 charities including food banks, fire companies, medical and youth organizations, and we award children of company employees scholarships every year.
Package Pavement’s products have found a place in thousands of firm foundations. And we firmly believe that the foundation we build when we treat each other right is most important of all. Our employees live by it. Our neighbors and colleagues love it. And you’ll feel it in our customer service, from the moment you reach out and connect with us.
